Colourful "New London Fabulous" design movement is challenging minimalism, says Adam Nathaniel Furman:

Between these three artists, there is huge emphasis on solid, popping colours, and clear cut shapes. Visually, this is very effective to me.
The colour of a building can affect its function as it can be interpretted differently. For example, if a primary school was built with grey stone, it may be a bit intimidating to a child, however if built in maybe coloured stone it could be a bit more approachable and welcoming environment. Likeiwse with how a colourful courtplace may disturb the context and formality of the envirnoment.

3.In the last sentence Furman says his dream is to do a skyscraper - but he thinks 'he will never get to do that". Why do you think he says this? Do you think he is right? I think he says this because cities may desire soemthing more practical - a 'better use' / more functional fit for the largescale space of a skyscraper. I dont think he is right because if someone powerful saw his work i think theyd see it as promoting a lot of tourists to come to visit it, generating lots of money, and therefore would like to take his work further.

By using more solid lines/shapes, i could take my drawings further by simplifying them to an iconic sillhouette.

The mood of my work changes when I use different medias and colours by turning it from something quite delicate, to something bouncy and playful. Through having a brown pallette for the first set of images it relates the clothing to its natural senses, becoming quite dainty. This is matched by the clear cut figure of the clothing, delicate and graceful like leaves. Through having a more coloured palette, using greens, yellows and reds, it becomes more playful and eyecatching. The large figure of the clothing becomes mlore fun and enegetic, not just admirable.

The concepts of meaning and function entail things working together for an end product.

Textiles has many functions in different contexts:

1. Body: style, protection, representation, messages, culture/history, modesty

2. Interior: style, protection, functionality (to make lives easier), entertainment

I enjoyed when we got to work on the body the most. The first half of creating the design with the possessions was uninteresting to me as i was not CREATING, i felt limited by copying vision. When we got to projecting, it was really fun becuase we could reimagine things and repurpose them. I liked the fact that we could produce many quick designs, from turning the image around to project at a different angle, or changing the shape of the paper to fit the body differently.
