death, lonely, ominous, existential, nocturnal, philosophical, alienation, sombre, atmospheric, lo-fi, cryptic, cold, depressive: words to describe the song. these are all themes i wanted to dig into (no pun intended) within my piece, therefore it was no coincidence this song would isnpire me further.

this song really inspired me and guided me towards choosing my final piece. I name my final piece "A Grave Within A Grave" after this song. This song is about death being a prison, instead of the escape it can often else be represented as. The way i interpretted the song into my piece, was to carve myself this grave in the ground of my physical self, my body's outline, but also bury my angst, my discomforts, my negaitivties, my hate, all the emotional and metaphorical-flowing things into the water. The visual representation fo the piece and even location were all inspired by these three lines from the song:

1.Just a cavity to soak up my guilt and my depravity
2.The flowers up above me wilting down so they can laugh at me
3.To think we spend our lives convinced we understand agony

1.The cavity, is the grave of the body, soaking up (using water), my guilt and my depravity

2.being placed out in the open, next to flowers (as its in a park) wilting down surrounding the piece. As a mere mortal, what do i know about pain? what do i understand about death? Nature has been through everything back and forth and holds so many secrets and truths, that we may never find out. Nature holds the knowledge, therefore laughing with disgust at my ignorance.

3. I often feel like, when i am upset or down, it is a dramatisation of my emotions and i really dislike that exexacerbated feeling, i do not want to be ungrateful of all the things i have. I often feel as if i understand what it is like to ahve depression or to feel pain or betrayal. But there could be things so much worse, i feel insignificant soemtimes - my pain feels like a needle, compared to what it could be in the world. So I try to convince myself that it isnt that bad.

The original meaning of the song being: not only is the coffin itself a prison, but his physical body is one too, bound to limbo and unable to find peace in the afterlife. A metaphorical grave inside of a literal one.

My metaphorical grave is my emotions, inside of a literal one being my carcus.
