She has focused her career on using graffiti and murals as acts of rebellion and self-expression, and empowering women.

Lady Pink has noted in an interview how the second wave of feminism in the 1970s influenced her attitude and her work, explaining, “The feminist movement was growing very strong and as a teenager I think it affected me without realizing that I was a young feminist. The more guys said ‘you can’t do that’, the more I had to prove them wrong. I had to hold it up for all my sisters who looked up to me to be brave and courageous and to prove that I could do what guys could do. We defend our artworks with our fists and our crazy courage.”

I adore Lady Pink's whacky dream artspace. I love how she encorporates what she can see around her into her own distinct style and habitat. The surrealist vibe reminds me of a modern Salvador Dali, both coming from southern american backgrounds. There is so much detail and intricacy in her work that you could be staring for hours. I love the pink, purple, blue and green colour palette in the piece above. Between the piece on the left with unknown credit, and this piece, i love that they both have this kind of curved, boucy style world. the pair are really dreamy and encapsulating through the use of colour and subject matter. for this piece by Lady Pink above, the psychadelic atmosphere brings the town depicted to life. the colour and shape do this top, by being liberal and vibrant. There is a lot of chaos, just like in any urban town, but pictured in a way so beautifully that the chaos and damge intertwines within eachother and creates an architectual monster that is really fun and interesting to look at. I think this big monster-type house in the centre represents the twistedness of the urban environment. I believe there could be typography hidden in the piece, but am unable to detect it at this moment, but this gives me ideas to hide words into my pieces in disguised form of people,plants,buildings etc. The topic of hidden words in a piece reminds me of Jean Michael Basquiat as he would often insert words that come to his mind all over his pieces. I find this interesting as i regard words as highly as i do to images, and when the two are combined i believe it induces something quite thought provoking.
